Awards
Close Brothers Corporate Finance has repeatedly received awards. In the past years the M&A Advisory, Debt Advisory and Special Situations Group units were lauded with several highly regarded awards:
- The M&A Advisory division of Close Brothers GmbH has received the title “Corporate Financier of the Year 2008” from Deutsche unquote. The jury detailed six reasons for awarding Close Brothers the prize: a leading market position among middle-sized businesses, the swiftness of their project development, a worldwide presence, distinctive financing know-how, process security and creative transaction structuring through the combination of M&A and financing know-how and mediation services in the case of parties with conflicting interests.
- On the 20th January 2009 Close Brothers’ offices in Germany, France and Spain were distinguished with the “Continental Independent Corporate Finance House of the Year 2009” award by the Reuters publication Acquisitions Monthly.
- In the United Kingdom, Close Brothers Corporate Finance was awarded Support Services Sector Adviser of the Year 2008 by Acquisitions Monthly 2008 Awards. It is presented to a pioneering team that has advised most of the sector's leading companies on over 150 transactions in the ten years since the formation of the sector. The award Domestic Deal of the Year was received for advising Gala Group on the takeover of Coral Eurobet with a transaction volume of £ 2.18 billion.
- In 2008, the European Special Situations Group was rewarded for its pre-eminent restructuring capabilities for the fifth consecutive year. Close Brothers was awarded by Acquisitions Monthly Magazin Restructuring Adviser of the Year 2008, in acknowledgement of the broad range of advisory mandates it undertook in 2007 throughout Europe as well as Restructuring Deal of the Year for its role in the €9 billion Eurotunnel transaction - one of the largest European restructurings of recent years. Additionally, the Group was awarded Global Restructuring Deal of the Year and European Restructuring Deal of the Year 2005 by IFR Magazine for its involvement in restructuring Parmalat.
